Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is believed to be preparing a £2 million bid for Aston Villa's goal-shy striker Emile Heskey.
Allardyce has publicly claimed his side are in the hunt for a new frontman this summer following their lack of attacking options, and according to the Daily Mirror, the powerful frontman is top of their wish-list.
Heskey has fallen down the pecking order at Villa Park due to his lack of goals and the form of fellow frontman John Carew.
And Villa manager Martin O'Neill is expected to be keen to offload his mis-firing striker in order to remove another top earner from the wage bill.
Heskey has recently retired from international football following England’s poor performance at World Cup 2010 although Allardyce believes he could restore the former Liverpool and Leicester City goal-getter's confidence.
Allardyce has voiced his concern over the club’s inactivity in the transfer window this summer, as Rovers are the target of a takeover bid from a group of Indian businessmen.
