Bundesliga outfit Schalke have confirmed on their official website that Brazilian defender Rafinha has left the club for an adventure at Serie A outfit Genoa. Neither club have disclosed any details about the transfer, but German newspaper Bild claim that the Grifone pay €8 million for the right back.

Genoa looked vulnerable at the back throughout last term and conceded 62 goals during the 2009-10 Serie A season. Therefore, head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was determined to strengthen his defence ahead of the new season.

Rafinha joined Schalke from Coritiba in the summer of 2005 and had since developed into a key player at the Gelsenkirchen side. The 24-year-old has made 153 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke, scoring seven goals in the process.

The defender was continually being linked with a move away from Schalke in the past couple of months, with clubs such as Milan and Juventus believed to be keeping tabs on him. However, Rafinha has now signed a four-year deal with Genoa instead.

The Grifone have been extremely active on the summer transfer market. They have also secured the services of Luca Toni, Miguel Veloso, Eduardo, Chico and Franco Zuculini among others.

上年拉芬拿都唔系馬卡fu的計劃中
放Bordon 應該覺得佢太老
放古蘭爾應該系佢d行為馬卡fu唔多鐘意
