Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery picked up what looks to be a serious ankle injury in the 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim on Tuesday evening.
The Frenchman was in the act of shooting when he turned his ankle 20 minutes into the second half, and required help to leave the field.
Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes the diagnosis is not a good one for his star player.
"The initial diagnosis does not look good," he told fussball.zdf.de. "It could be that something is broken or there could be some serious ligament damage."
