Green Day 簡介
Green day樂隊在美國另類樂壇的後「nirvana」時期崛起，實際「jam pearl」之後最有影響的樂隊。本質上，「green day」是punk復興者，復活了急速而簡練的，3個和弦的punk流行歌曲。儘管他們的音樂並沒有特別的創新，但他們用《dookie》獎70年代末的punk帶給新的年輕的一代。「green day」未能保持住他們的成功——《dookie》賣出800萬張，而它的下一張之賣了前者的四分之一，但是他們的影響甚為深遠，是他們打開了美國新punk，朋克金屬和第三次ska音樂浪潮之門。

「Green day」身處南加利福尼亞州地下punk音樂圈中。同年好友billie joe armstrong(吉他手，主唱）和mike dirnt（貝司手，原名mike pritchard）在他們14歲的時候於加利福尼亞州羅德奧就組建了「sweet children」樂隊。1989年，樂隊招募了鼓手al sobrante，更名為「green day」。同年，樂隊獨自發行了他們的第一張EP《1000 hours》，得到南加利福尼亞州硬核朋克音樂圈裡的好評。不久以後，樂隊簽約當地的larry livermore的獨立公司lookout,並更換鼓手為john kiftmeyer。樂隊的首張專輯《39/smooth》在第2年發行，該專輯僅用一天錄製完成。此後樂隊進行了一次國內巡演，kiftmeyer由於想完成大學學業而離隊，樂隊更換了新鼓手tre cool，他12歲時就受雇於larry livermore的lookout。

《kerplunk》在地下的成功引起各大唱片公司的興趣，樂隊最後決定簽約reprise。《dookie》，「green day」的首張大公司專輯發行於1994年春。多虧mtv電視台對單曲《longview》的支持，該專輯成為大熱門。《dookie》在夏天繼續升溫，第2首單曲《basket case》在美國現代搖滾榜上5周高居榜首。同時，樂隊在「五德斯托克94」上露面，更擴大了專輯的銷量。第4首單曲《when i come around》在1995年初的現代搖滾榜上蟬聯7周冠軍。《dookie》最終在美國售出800萬張，全球銷量大1000萬。他還獲得1994年格林美最佳另類音樂表演獎。

1995年夏，「green day」為電影《angus》的配樂「J.A.R」又獲現代搖滾榜冠軍。同年秋，樂隊迅速發行了專輯《insomniac》。專輯開始走勢不錯，入美國榜第2，1996年初售出200萬張。但是，沒有一首單曲像前者那樣成功。同時，「green day」以筋疲力盡為由突然取消了歐洲巡演。樂隊開始休息並創作新的歌曲。但可以預言，「green day」以其「三分鐘朋克」歌曲開創的市場還會維持並發展下去。1997年10月，樂隊又出半了新專輯《nimrod》，雖然專輯減少了一些流行punk的成分，但是快速，迷人的旋律仍然是他們音樂的核心。

靚太辣妹趕走戾氣 VMA頒獎禮Green Day捧走7獎
【明報專訊】MTV電視頻道一年一度舉辦的音樂錄影帶頒獎禮（Video Music Awards，以下簡稱VMA），連續第2年在邁阿密舉行。不過，賽前先是受颶風卡特里娜的影響，多個派對被迫取消外，周日又傳來Hip Hop巨子、唱片公司Death Row的老闆Marion Suge Knight在Kanye West主持的派對上遭槍擊，為頒獎禮蒙上了暴力和戾氣的陰影。不過，一如司儀Diddy在開場時所言﹕「今晚的主題是﹕什麼都有可能發生。」VMA在一片熱鬧的氣氛下舉行，Punk樂隊Green Day橫掃7獎成為大贏家，另外，有份出席的頒獎嘉賓如「靚太」伊娃朗歌妮亞（Eva Longoria）、拉丁歌手Paulina Rubino、Jessica Simpson等辣妹都經過悉心打扮，令人眼前一亮，抹去了槍擊事件帶來的戾氣，颶風也遠離了邁阿密。

今年VMA的大贏家是Green Day，分別奪得年度最佳音樂錄影帶、最佳樂隊、最佳搖滾歌曲、最佳剪接、最佳攝影及觀眾票選大獎等共7項。Missy Elliott亦不弱，她的Lose Control贏得最佳舞曲及最佳Hip Hop音樂錄影帶等兩獎。而賽前有傳會杯葛頒獎禮的Gwen Stefani，盛裝現身，奪得最佳美術指導及最佳舞蹈兩獎，其後她更獲Diddy頒發為當晚的最佳衣著女歌手（Snoop Dogg為最佳衣著男歌手）。至於最佳男、女音樂錄影帶獎，則分別由Kanye West及Kelly Clarkson奪得。
