Real Madrid have settled on a compensation package with Inter Milan to bring manager Jose Mourinho to the Santiago Bernabeu.
A statement on Inter's official website confirmed that a deal had been struck between the two clubs, thanking Real president Florentino Perez for flying to Milan to finalise the deal.
The announcement centred on a "strong link" between the two clubs but added that the final details of the deal had yet to be confirmed.
Mourinho has a release clause of €16m [£13.6m], which Inter president Massimo Moratti told Sky Italy the Spanish club will honour in full, paying €10m now, with the rest coming through transfer agreements between the clubs.
Reports suggest Brazilian right-back Maicon will be one of those players, following Mourinho to Madrid.
Real also confirmed the deal on their website, hailing it a "friendly" agreement, and announcing that Mourinho will be unveiled as boss on Monday with a presentation planned for 1pm CET.
