Liverpool v Tottenham to be postponed
Article added: January 8th, 2010 Add a comment
Liverpool’s home match with Tottenham on Sunday is set to be postponed today.
Heavy snow and freezing temperatures have, of course, been affecting the whole of the UK this week and in particular the North West.
Temperatures are not set to even reach freezing before Sunday, with snow forecast again in Liverpool on Sunday.
The midweek football fixtures at Old Trafford, Ewood Park and the Emirates were all postponed due to the weather and safety issues regarding supporters, and stewards, attending the match.
Liverpool FC this morning announced:
Liverpool Football Club have submitted an official request to the Premier League that Sunday’s Barclays Premier League clash against Tottenham be called off for safety reasons.
Discussions with the Premier League are currently taking place and more news will be announced as soon as a final decision is made.
Fulham v Portsmouth has been postponed thus far from the other Premier League fixtures this weekend.
The postponement means Javier Mascherano will be available for the rearranged fixture and he will now serve the last of his four match ban in the FA Cup replay against Reading on Wednesday – if that goes ahead! |
