Valencia wants Riise
Rosenborg's opponent in the Champions League, Valencia, is interested in bringing in John Arne Riise (27) from Liverpool.
This comes from the Spanish newspaper Superdeporte, a sports paper from the Valencia region.
According to Superdeporte, coach Ronald Koeman had a meeting with president Juan Bautista Solér and sports director Angel Rúiz, where they discussed the possibility of buying Riise.
It is said to be Riise's fitness and attacking qualities that have attracted the Spaniards. It would mean they could play 4-3-3 with an attacking back 4.
According to Riise's agent, Jan Kvalheim, the Spanish club has already contacted Liverpool about the Norwegian.
"John Arne has heard from the club that Valencia is interested. But this isn't something he thinks about," says Kvalheim to VG Nett.
On Wednesday, The Independent reported that Liverpool are considering to sell the Norwegian to finance the buy of Javier Mascherano, who is currently only on loan.
"There are a lot of rumours in England these days, about every player. There is bound to be a lot of speculation going on and because of this it's difficult to comment on everything," says Kvalheim.
"John Arne has a contract with Liverpool for another year and a half. He wants to play for Liverpool as long as he can," his agent tells VG Nett.
John Carew's Aston Villa has also shown interest for Liverpool's left back.

Riise rejects Valencia overtures
Valencia have made a move for Liverpool defender John Arne Riise but the Norwegian does not want to leave Anfield, the player's agent confirmed.
The Spanish club have asked Liverpool's management several times about a transfer possibility according to Riise's agent Jan Kvalheim.
But the 26-year-old Norway international has repeatedly said that he wants to remain at Liverpool for the rest of his career.
"John Arne has been told by his club that Valencia are interested but this is not something that he wants to think about right now," Kvalheim told VG Nett.
"There are so many rumours in England at the moment and a lot of speculation, it's hard to comment on them all."
Riise has been looking to prolong his current two-year deal at Anfield and has instructed Kvalheim to begin negotiations for an extension.
"John Arne will respect his commitment to Liverpool, his contract runs out in a year and a half but he wishes to stay for as long as possible," Kvalheim said.
