Wigan manager Steve Bruce has a few injury concerns heading into the Latics' season opener at West Ham.
Chris Kirkland (back) and Emile Heskey (groin) have both been passed fit after picking up problems in pre-season, while Jason Koumas (knee) is also expected to be fit.
But Paul Scharner (ankle) and Ryan Taylor (shin) remain doubtful, with Erik Edman (knee ligament) still recovering from a long-term injury and Marlon King unavailable after joining Hull on a season-long loan.
West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand is a doubt as he is struggling with a hamstring injury sustained during the pre-season friendly against Ipswich.
Craig Bellamy (hamstring), Kieron Dyer (broken leg), Jonathan Spector (hip), George McCartney (virus), Danny Gabbidon (stomach), James Tompkins (leg) and James Collins (knee) are out.

Striker Marlon King could go straight into the Hull side for their Barclays Premier League opener against Fulham.
The Jamaica international joined the club on a season-long loan from Wigan on Thursday and will compete for a place with veteran Dean Windass and Caleb Folan up front.
King is one of a number of new signings that could make his Tigers debut in this weekend's clash at the KC Stadium.
Peter Halmosi, George Boateng, Anthony Gardner, Bernard Mendy and Geovanni could all feature in a much-changed Hull side.
Folan received treatment for a muscle strain this week but is now fit and manager Phil Brown has no other injury worries.
Fulham will kick off the new season without ?0.5million striker Andrew Johnson, who is still recovering from a thigh injury.
The England international is manager Roy Hodgson's only absentee apart from long-term knee injury victim Diomansy Kamara and the former Inter Milan boss must decide how many debuts are to be handed out at the KC Stadium.
Goalkeepers Mark Schwarzer, Pascal Zuberbuhler and David Stockdale, defenders John Pantsil and Fredrik Stoor, midfielders Andranik Teymourian and Zoltan Gera and striker Bobby Zamora will all be hoping for first appearances for their new club.

Aston Villa are set to hand a debut to right-back Luke Young against Manchester City at Villa Park on Sunday.
Young, who joined Villa from Middlesbrough, was ineligible for Thursday night's UEFA Cup qualifier against FH Hafnarfjordur.
Striker John Carew missed the game in Iceland with a slight calf strain but should be fit to face City.
Central defender Carlos Cuellar, who joined Villa from Rangers earlier this week in a ?.8million deal, has a calf problem and is unlikely to be fit for another week.
Villa also have an injury doubt around midfielder Steve Sidwell, their ?million summer signing from Chelsea.
Sidwell damaged his calf in training earlier this month and will need a late fitness test before manager Martin O'Neill finalises his team.
City manager Mark Hughes will be without skipper Richard Dunne through suspension.
The Republic of Ireland international was sent off in City's final game of last season at Middlesbrough and will be forced to sit out the first game of the new campaign.
Hughes may be tempted to shake up his side for the match at Villa Park after the shock UEFA Cup first-leg defeat by FC Midtjylland.
Bulgaria striker Valeri Bojinov is pushing for a place in the starting line-up after his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
City are short of options in attack as Benjani Mwaruwari and Darius Vassell are injured while Jo is part of Brazil's Olympic squad.

Bolton manager Gary Megson has just one injury concern ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League opener with Stoke at the Reebok Stadium.
Icelandic striker Heidar Helguson is set to miss the clash with the newly-promoted Potters due to a hernia problem, although he should be back in contention for the trip to Newcastle on August 23.
New signings Johan Elmander, Danny Shittu and Fabrice Muamba are all likely to feature, while Megson must choose between the experience of Jussi Jaaskelainen and the promise of Ali Al Habsi in goal.
Stoke will make late decisions over the fitness of last season's 15-goal top scorers Ricardo Fuller and Liam Lawrence.
Fuller, who only returned to full training this week, is more likely to be on the bench after suffering a knee injury while on international duty with Jamaica.
Lawrence has been used sparingly in pre-season after a hernia operation, but he is expected to start.
Manager Tony Pulis has an otherwise fully fit squad to choose from.
