John Terry has been sacked as England captain, Sky News have reported.
The award-winning broadcaster have cited 'close sources' in their announcement that Terry has been 'dropped' following the lurid allegations made against him.
The Chelsea defender was spotted arriving at Wembley for talks with Fabio Capello on Friday afternoon at about 1pm and it appears he has been unsuccessful in persuading the Italian not to strip him of the armband.
According to Sky News, the meeting lasted just twelve minutes.
It has already been speculated on the station that Steven Gerrard will be appointed as Terry's successor, though it's also thought that Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand are in the frame to take on the role. Wayne Bridge is not thought to be a contender.
The FA are refusing to comment on the reports.
