Some American hockey players are starting to use new ice skates which help them skate faster.
A Canadian company called Thermablade has developed the product. The blades on the new skates are heated with a battery to 5 degrees Celsius, just above freezing. This allows a skater to move on the ice at a faster speed.
National Hockey League (NHL) which operates in America and Canada is the most popular ice hockey league in the world. Widely use of new technology in NHL will shepherd other leagues in Europe to follow.
Wayne Gretzky, one of the greatest hockey players in history, is a big supporter of the new skates. |
