As reported by AS, Real Madrid have confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain is a 'non-transferable' piece of the team and that the young Argentine will remain at the Spanish capital next season.
'El Pipa' is waiting to sign a new deal with the club and it is anticipated that negotiations over a contract renewal will take place at the end of the Liga sesason. The club and player are, at the moment, far from striking an accord, but the issue is set to be resolved between Jorge Valdano and Higuain's father this summer.
This year, Higuan's numbers have shown even further improvement than his steadily improving run over the past few seasons. Winning a starting role over team-mate Karim Benzema, Higuain has been in the hunt for the Pichichi since the beginning of the year.
The Spanish press also speculates that, in addition to Pipa's exceptional numbers, fan pressure and outrage has also contributed to Madrid's decision to renew the young striker's deal. Through his work ethic and progressive maturing since his arrival at the Bernabeu, Higuain has quickly become a fan favourite at the Bernabeu and has garnered support from Madridistas worldwide.
Higuain currently has a contract with Los Blancos until 2013 with a buyout clause of €150 million. The Argentine hopes to have a new deal done by the time the youngster leaves with Diego Maradona's Argentina national team for this summer's World Cup.
