Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano has stated there is no room for wantaway Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rooney, 24, is understood to have told manager Sir Alex Ferguson he has no intention of extending his contract at United and has his heart set on a move away. This had seen Real linked with a £50 million cash-plus-player swap with Karim Benzema.
Speaking to Telemadrid, Valdano closed the door on a move to the Spanish capital and hinted the club's striking options were sealed for the next decade.
He said: "We have two wonderful players [Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain] up front and they showed last season that are able to score 60 goals. [Angel] Di Maria and [Mesut] Oezil will help. The question is who is removed for Rooney?"
The 1986 World Cup winner added: "There is a open debate on the club at the moment and there are very young people that has a lot to prove, for example Benzema. He is very young and maybe we have solved that problem for the next 10 years."
