Robert de Visée 是巴洛克時期的音樂家，曾為法王路易十四聛請成為宮廷音樂家，為皇室貴族演奏，並作為皇太子的結他導師。他擅於彈奏結他、魯特琴和西奧伯琴(theorbo)。他創作了不少舞曲並以組曲的形式出版，這首基格舞曲來自他的《魯特琴和西奧伯琴樂曲集》。樂曲是比較輕快的類型，採用對位的手法令樂曲聽起來內容非常豐富。
