Sunderland seal Turner transfer
Turner had at one time been on Liverpool's wish list
| Sunderland have signed Hull City defender Michael Turner for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old centre-back has signed a four-year deal with the Black Cats.
Hullboss Phil Brown said offers for Turner, who was chased by severalclubs, had been "getting towards a ridiculous valuation".
Earlierthis month it was reported Liverpool had a £6m bid for Turner turneddown, with Hull demanding £12m for the highly rated defender.
As well as Liverpool, Turner was linked with Fulham but he has now become Bruce's seventh signing of the summer.
"A big factor in attracting me was manager Steve Bruce," Turner told Sunderland's website. "He has a real pedigree."
 | Michael has developed immeasurably as a player while with Hull
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce
| "Michael is one of the country's premier central defenders and I have had my eye on him for a while," added Bruce.
"I'vebeen looking to add size and strength to the back line and Michael fitsthe bill perfectly in that respect, as well as being an excellenttechnical footballer.
"He has developed immeasurably as aplayer while with Hull. I am extremely confident he will continue thatprogress with Sunderland and go on to be a big success."
Turnerbegan his career at Charlton before moving to Brentford and then toHull for £350,000 in 2006, playing 146 games and scoring 13 goals.
Lastseason the centre-back was one of only two players to play every minuteof all 38 Premier League games - the other being Sylvain Distin forPortsmouth.
Bruce has worked hard to recruit defensive targets this summer, landing Paraguay international Paulo da Silva and loan signing JohnMensah to date.
Turner's arrival follows the signings of DarrenBent, Lee Cattermole, Fraizer Campbell and Lorik Cana, as well as DaSilva and loanee Mensah.
On Sunday, the Tigers snapped up Sunderland defender Paul McShane.
