HUGHIE DISAPPOINTED WITH RESULT
Liverpool Reserve coach Hughie McAuley admitted he was frustrated and disappointed with the 2-0 defeat by Middlesbrough, a match he felt the Reds could have taken at least a point from.
Both Middlesbrough goals came from deflections off Liverpool defenders Miki Roque and Danny O'Donnell respectively, and try as they might the Reds couldn't score despite creating some good openings on the night.
"It was a disappointing night for us," McAuley told Liverpoolfc.tv. "In the first half we were not at the races but we were much better in the second half.
"We created some good chances, at least three or four good ones, but we didn't take them and if you don't put them away you sometimes pay the price for it.
"It was very unfortunate that the two Middlesbrough goals came from deflections but that's football."
McAuley also praised the contribution of Under-18 striker Craig Lindfield who was a lively figure when he came off the bench in the second half. Lindfield has scored seven goals during the youth team's run to the FA Youth Cup final.
"Craig was unlucky not to score and he did well," enthused McAuley. "He has been doing very well in the youth cup run this season and we are giving him more experience with his involvement in the reserve team squad." |
