Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard described lifting the FA Cup Final as Liverpool captain as a very special moment and paid tribute to Pepe Reina for his heroics when he saved three penalties in the shoot-out.  
Playing down his own personal contribution with two fantastic goals the Reds skipper called Reina the match winner for Liverpool.
  
"We felt our best chance was penalties because we had no energy left," revealed Gerrard.
  
"We always knew if it went to penalties we had a really good chance, we feel we've got the better goalkeeper on the day. He made a great save in the last minute and he deserves to be the hero.
  
"It's very special, the supporters are fantastic and West Ham were brilliant today, but we had the never say die attitude.
  
"It's a dream for me to score two, and a penalty, and to be able to celebrate with all these magnificent fans.
  
"We've got a great team spirit - It doesn't matter how many goals we go down, we'll keep fighting till the end."

West Ham captain Nigel Reo-Coker admitted he was absolutely gutted to lose the FA Cup Final because he felt his team deserved to win it.  
The Hammers skipper felt his team gave their all and that defeat was hard to take.
  
"I can't describe it how I feel at the moment - gutted because I think we deserved to win this game," reasoned Reo-Coker.
  
"The players put in a fantastic effort, but it just wasn't to be for us.
  
"It was a marvellous FA Cup final and we gave all we could. I hope everyone was proud - it just wasn't our day."
  
Team-mate Teddy Sheringham added: "It is a cruel game and we were outstanding. We had to dig deep, but we just couldn't dig deep enough.
  
"It was a great FA Cup final and there were fantastic moments going on all over the pitch."

Penalty hero Pepe Reina played down his heroic contribution in the FA Cup Final and felt he had a lot of luck on his side.  
The Reds Spanish goalkeeper made a fantastic save to deny Marlon Harewood in the last minute of extra-time then went on to save three penalties to give Liverpool the cup, but admitted he wasn't totally satisfied with his own personal performance.
  
"I think really that I didn't deserve it because my game today wasn't the best - it was a difficult day for me," commented Reina.
  
"But in the lottery of the penalties this time I was lucky."

Djibril Cisse admitted he was overjoyed after celebrating a hat-trick of goals in cup finals for Liverpool and heaped praise on inspirational captain Steven Gerrard for guiding the Reds to victory in the FA Cup Final.  
The French international has scored goals for Liverpool in the Champions League Final, Super Cup Final and now the FA Cup Final making it a memorable treble of strikes in a red shirt.
  
"It was a great ball from Steven and it was nice for me to score but the most important thing was we won the game for our fans," Cisse enthused.
  
"What can you say about Steven Gerrard? He was amazing and he is the man! It was special to play in an FA Cup Final and it was just a fantastic day.
  
"A few of us had cramp in the game but our fans kept us going and you just want to run and run for them."

Rafael Benitez hailed his cup heroes after Liverpool produced an amazing comeback to lift the FA Cup in Cardiff with a victory on penalties over West Ham United.  
The Liverpool manager praised the character and never-say-die spirit of his team and said he was so proud of them after a mammoth 62 game season.
  
"I must give credit to my players as after a 62 game season a lot of them had cramp but they kept going until the end, never gave up and have done a fantastic job," enthused Benitez.
  
"Steven Gerrard scored two fantastic goals and you know the quality he has and I give him credit but for me it was the success of the team. Steven would say that himself and the energy levels the players showed was amazing. It was a fantastic final.
  
"Our supporters were fantastic as always and they kept us going. I was a little bit disappointed with the mistakes we made but we changed things. Cisse got a goal just before half-time which was important then I put Kromkamp on down the right side because Konchesky had cramp.
  
"We needed to control the midfield more and I put Didi Hamann on and he kept the ball and passed it for us."
  
Benitez also praised his goalkeeper Pepe Reina for his heroics in the shoot-out when he made three saves.
  
"Pepe is famous back in Spain for saving penalties so we had confidence in him and he did his job for us," added Benitez.
  
The Reds boss also revealed Harry Kewell had to leave the field with a muscular injury but feels he will be fit for the World Cup Finals.
  
"It was a disappointment for Harry to come off in another final and I think he will be out for two weeks but I think he will be okay for the World Cup," said Benitez.

進入補時階段，今場光芒四射的謝拉特30碼外窩利替利物浦扳平3-3，兩隊需進入加時比賽。加時上半場雙方互無紀錄，不過施素高、施斯、芬倫及加歷查均負傷上陣。

加時下半場完場前舒靈咸頭鎚中柱，希亞活補射又射斜，兩隊需以互射十二碼分勝負，利物浦門將拉爾拿成球隊英雄，他救出三個十二碼，替紅軍取得足總杯冠軍。

【明報專訊】利物浦在昨天的英格蘭足總盃複製去季歐聯的絕地反擊，在法定時間憑謝拉特的最後一擊得手，逼和韋斯咸3﹕3，再藉互射12碼贏3﹕1，繼2001年封王後，歷來第7次捧盃，也避免今季「四大皆空」。

經過早段互相刺探虛實後，韋斯咸在21分鐘一擊即中。今仗負傷上陣的「紅軍」中場沙比阿朗素中場誤傳，班拿約搶得皮球並送前予艾殊頓，該名中鋒再送予右路的史卡朗尼，該名阿根廷後衛的傳中球於前柱被「紅軍」中堅加歷查撞入球門先開紀錄。

一度落後0﹕2

7分鐘後艾法寧頓闖進左路禁區施射，這名韋斯咸左翼的射門雖力度和角度皆差勁，利物浦門將連拿竟接球不牢，被艾殊頓快腳補射中鵠成2﹕0。31分鐘高治越位在先頂入被判「詐糊」，惟「紅軍」僅1分鐘後終扳回一城，由施斯接應謝拉特的右路長傳，第一時間凌空「車身」射入。

換邊後利物浦以摩連迪斯入替演出沉寂的基維爾，利用前者和高治的高空優勢強攻，並在54分鐘已收效。當時沙比阿朗素左路傳中，高治遠柱頭槌回傳，謝拉特後上在12碼點「窩利」勁射掛網，扳平2﹕2。

(星島日報報道)昨日上演的英格蘭足總盃決賽，利物浦出戰韋斯咸在兩度落後之下，於最後階段藉謝拉特的世界波扳成三比三平手。兩隊在加時階段再無入球，紅軍在互射十二碼中以三比一氣走對手贏得錦標。

利物浦的英雄謝拉特說能以隊長身份高與足總盃，那種感覺非常特別。而他也不忘稱頌在互射１２碼階段連救３球１２碼的功臣連拿。

謝拉特沒有把自己射入的兩個入球掛在嘴邊，並說連拿才是帶領利物浦奪得勝利的功臣。

「我們奪標最大機會就是以１２碼取勝，因為球員們都已經筋皮力盡了。」

「我們心明如果比賽進入射１２碼階段我們取勝的機會極高，因為我們擁有一位較佳的守門員。他在最後救出高難度的１２碼，因此他才是球隊的英雄。」

「今天真的很特別，球迷們都落力支持，而韋斯咸有超水準的演出，但我們卻有打不死的精神。」

「我做夢也想不到我可以在決賽射入兩球，另加一球１２碼，接著還可以跟球迷們開心地慶祝勝利。」

利物浦在足總盃決賽神奇地後上追平並以１２碼擊敗韋斯咸後，賓尼迪斯公開地表揚一眾奪標英雄。

賓尼迪斯盛讚球隊在決賽中表現出的「打不死精神」，並稱球隊能在全季進行了６２場比賽後還可以有這種表現，他為球隊感到自豪。

「我必需表揚我的球員。在全季進行了６２場比賽後，不少人在比賽中抽筋，但他們還是奮戰到最後一刻，並且打了一場美妙的勝仗。」賓尼迪斯興奮地說。

「謝拉特射入了兩個漂亮的入球，我在此表揚他，然而對我來說勝利是屬於全隊人的。謝拉特也會同意眾人發揮出來的鬥志和體力是那麼驚人。這是一場經典戰役。」

「紅軍球迷一如以住的支持著我們。我對於球隊所犯的錯感到些少失望，但他們卻把敗局扭轉了。施斯在完上半場前射入非常重要的入球，接著我把高朗甘放到右後防的位置，因為高捷斯基抽筋了。」

「我們要進一步控制中場，因 此 我換入夏文，他成功保持控球，並把球交到隊友腳下。」

賓尼迪斯也盛讚連拿，因為他神勇地在互射１２碼階段救出３球１２碼。

「連拿在西班牙時已經出名擅救１２碼，所以在那時候我們己經非常有信心而他最終也沒有叫我們失望。」賓尼迪斯謂。

賓尼迪斯也提到基維爾因肌肉受傷而要退下火線，但他相信他可趕及傷癒出席世界杯決賽週。

「看見基維爾再一次在決賽中被換出是叫人失望的，他要養傷兩週，我相信他可趕及出席世界杯的」賓尼迪斯說。
