Thisis the 1st concert of the 'Argus'-tour recorded a week after finishingthe recording of this particular record but about a month prior to itsrelease. A must-have for every collector of the music of Wishbone Ash.

Igot this from a friend's cassette copied directly from the master reelabout 20 years ago. The only thing I did with the recording isadjusting the balance of the channels. There's no noise reduction, noequalizing. It's just as good as it gets. In my opinion a solid vg+ toex- in places (sample included).

I made art for it (included)based on my copy of the famous 'Argus Dates' vinyl bootleg. Only 100copies made with a unique cover which was hand-made of a South Americancoffee sack (did you ever scan a coffee sack?).

The Argus Datesbootleg included a mono version of this show omitting 'The Pilgrim' and'Phoenix' due to space reasons. This one is the full show in STEREO.

for Deep Purple, who played JLA on this date....and it also aligns with the Cleveland boot which was broadcast on WMMS the
following day.....any hoo, if you were there please chime in. I loved these guys back in the day, but they were probably
a little too high on the cheese factor to make it big.

Giuffria各隊員的表現都非常出色。Craig Goldy在Solo部分施展渾身解數，GreggGiuffria的Solo也非常出色。整個錄音的高潮在最後一曲Turn Me On的Solo部分，Craig Goldy, GreggGiuffria, Chuck Wright三人勁Jam數分鐘，拍案叫絕。

This IS absolutely the complete show except for a tape flip during which MAYBE 10 seconds of music is lost. This occurs in Track 10 @ 3:23. The weld is seamless but the "jump" is abrupt.

Not much to say here, so I'll try to keep this brief. I taped this show myself off the radio, so this is a blend of 2 master copies. I used my very first cassette recorder, which was a Pioneer "single-header", the model number of which I have forgotten. May it rest in peace ; it was a great deck. I also used my JVC TD-W505 stereo double cassette deck. I created 2 master copies. Usually for these Summerfest radio broadcasts, I would run 2 tapes simultaneously. One would be a 90 and the other would be a 100 min. tape. In this way, I was virtually certain to get the entire broadcast with no tape flips between the 2 cassette tapes, barring any machine fuckups. For this recording I ran out of 100 minute tapes, so I used 2 90s. If I recall correctly, I had a slight problem flipping both of the tapes in 5 seconds or less, hence the slight amount of missing music. What the fuck can I say ??? If I had had a 100 min. tape, you would have a 100% complete show. As it stands, you are getting a 99.82% complete show. The rest of the recording info you can find above. My radio setup was in an excellent position in my house, so you'll hear NO static, signal drift, dropouts, tuning problems, etc. This is an excellent recording so no one should have any complaints at all. There are a few soundman-generated oddities sprinkled throughout this recording which is why I graded it as an ex/ex+ rather than a straight ex+. Listen to this on headphones to hear some interesting effects ; this can obviously also be very well-played on your home stereo, car stereo, etc. You will LOVE this FM broadcast. That's about all I have to rave about, so let's wrap this thing up....

Please trade this freely as it probably is fairly rare, unless you live in or around Milwaukee, WI and then you may not have a master copy. You do now !!This show will be a welcome addition to any Great White fan's collection. Here is a very nice little recording of an incendiary performance by the first 5 piece incarnation of the band following the release of their Phenomenon LP in May 1974.
This much I know: The taper, who kindly sent me the master cassette-sadly not the best quality and somewhat the worse for wear after 33 years-used a mono Sennheiser MD411 mic into a mono Philips 2205 deck with manual recording level. He had this set a touch high and so the recording is somewhat hot and at times the bass level has caused some saturation (distortion). However as Phil Mogg says at one point they had some trouble with the PA that night and UFO were known to play very loud so it's not suprising. As far as the date is concerned, I have searched the internet for clues and all I know is the Paul Chapman was in the line up only after the release of "Phenomenon" in early May up until January 1975 and the band made 8 appearances at the Marquee that year according to a site devoted to the club. They are: 07/03/74; 16/05/74; 03/06/74; 10/07/74; 06/08/74; 08/09/74; 09/10/74 and 27/12/74 (dd/mm/yy). The taper's only clue to identifying which of these this tape might be of is that it was most likely a weekend which points to the September date, a Sunday and the December date, a Friday. Listening to the gig, it's clear it was a very hot night but then the club never had any air conditioning! There is even a fire on stage during "Oh My"!
As far as officially released recordings from 1974 go there is a BBC recording from the 06/06/74 at the Hippodrome in London's Golders Green from which several tracks were released on their Archive Series CD and a video of this line up but without Paul Chapman playing on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert in, I read it was October 1974 but it was aired in 1975 so go figure....which recently appeared on the Strangers In The Night DVD, a thoroughly worthless production save for this clip which serves as the only video on the damn thing. Sadly it has very poor sound and Schenkers trademark guitar sound is absent.
The setlist is the exact same as the 05/08/74 Bogarts, Birmingham and in fact the band continued to play pretty much the same set well into 1975 so no further clues there.
As the recording itself; I transferred the tape spools to new cassette case and played it back on my Teac deck with azymuth adjusted to what I considered the correct setting via high quality leads onto a DAT tape in a Sony deck at 48kHz using Super Bit Mapping. Thus preserved I made a digital copy onto the HDD and began to see if I could clean up the sound. I mainly used Sony Soundforge as I have become familiar with it's workings and am confident enough to tweak some of the presets. The original sound of the tape had strengths but I couldn't circulate it as it was. This is a mono recording and yet there existed on many of the songs a very noticable channel flux which if listening on headphones is very annoying. To eradicate this I used the copy channel function thus creating a clone of the best channel and presto! no more flux. I created a paragraphic EQ setting which subtly cut certain mid and particularly dominant bass frequencies. I applied this to the whole file; low end distortion mentioned above is still there and depite many attempts at attenuating the bass via this and that I opted to leave it as is because when it's not distorted it's very full and well, thumping but not pumping. I didn't use any hiss reduction, limiting or compression. There was a gap in "Rock Bottom" due to the tape flip which I patched from another part of the song. See if you can spot the joints. The worst parts of the recording are the first song which had tape damage as well as channel fluctuation but at least it's listenable now and a section in "Cold Turkey"'s second verse where the tape has been mangled in the past so I left that alone. It's a short but difficult passage. At last, having split the tracks up I resampled down to 44.1 KHz with anti-alias filter to preserve the original pitch and burn tested the compilation in Nero then after listening through hi fi speakers and headphones I re copied the files with EAC and encoded them with TLH to flac and made the torrent.
I hope this description is of interest to techies and fans alike. I am a bit of both. I now think this recording ranks as the best I've heard from the 1974 5 piece band. The Bogarts CD is far inferior and even though the BBC recording is excellent it is incomplete and therfore unrepresentative plus the panning of the guitars renders Schenker almost inaudible at times. This tape however is powerful and has a great deal of detail even in the distorted passages and Schenker is on brilliant form throughout. He really cuts through and delivers some incredible improvised versions of solos from the "Phenomenon" tunes rather than stick to the recorded versions and on the older numbers he is, well, phenomenal. The taper said he wanted to send Michael a copy to inspire him to play well again. After his recent shambolic appearances I can't argue with that even though he clearly improved in almost every way as a player over the intervening years. Here and there he and Chapman do a bit of Thin Lizzyesque harmony lead work which is very welcome. They are in tune aswell. Witness the long tunings between every song.
Well I think that covers everything. A newly discovered historic recording is dusted down and polished and sent out into the world to play. Enjoy!

Track no. 10 is a new song from the new album.  Tony said it will be released next spring.

Track no. 22 Oyasuminasai version Tony shouted "Oyasuminasai" instead of "Thundersteel" at the last part of the song.  He uses this word as "have a good night" but almost 100% of Japanese people imagine "sleep well" not "have a good night" when we hear it.So it's bit funny for us. hahaha.
