Awakening was originally listed as “Waking The City”

The set finishes off with a butchered “Going Down” jam. Butchered in the sense that the start and the end is missing from the recording.

As usual Hiseman isnt shy when it comes to the lenght and endurance of his drum solos. This version is close to 20 minutes long.

As usual please keep the torrents lossless and to the Japanese bootleggers who keep making bootlegs of my dime torrents and sell them for 50 euros a piece,go fuck yourself with a garden hose. Hope your return as cockroaches in your next life.

Notes:
Supergroups are usually hit & miss affairs, but when when you get several established stars with amazing chemistry, it can really succeed.  Such was the case for Damn Yankees, which featured Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw (Styx) and Jack Blades (Night Ranger).  The combination of the three, plus Vito Carlone on drums really clicks, and they provided a solid band for the early 90's.  Yes, they were steeped in the hard rock/hair metal tradition, but they really kicked ass, especially live.

Here is a great example of the band in action, with this fine 1991 show, when they were touring for their debut album.  For this show, they were co-headlining with Bad Company, although I don't remember if they rotated spots or if BadCo closed every night (they closed the two nights that I saw them on the tour).

This show took place right in the middle of the ground invasion of the first Gulf War, and you can tell the band was pumped.  The performance is about as energetic as I've heard from the band, and there are plenty of references to the war throughout the evening.  

Although I had attended this show, the recording is not mine.  I picked it up at a local record store, and 69mako transfered it (doing his usual excellent job)

This recording here comes directly from the "Men With Microphones" archive. "MWM" started in the 70ies in South Germany with analog recording equipment, and at least two of them are still recording sometimes (since the 90ies on DAT, and, lazy as we are, since lately with small, handheld WAV-recorders on SD-cards).

Würzburg is a nice city in the south of Germany, in the north of Bavaria halfway between Nuremberg and Frankfurt am Main. The "Music Hall" was an ugly concrete building, the sound inside was quite bad, especially during hardrock and heavy metal shows. Lots of reverberation...and an enthusiastic and crazy crowd. Until the end of the 80ies lots of GI's and Army personnel lived in the area, mainly in Nuremberg, Schweinfurt and Würzburg. So most of the concerts had been well-frequented, regardless the style of music, and big name-shows were overcrowded...with usually more than 50 percents Americans. After the strategic withdrawal and relocation abroad of the Army, closing barracks and selling army buildings and grounds in the 90ies the decline of the whole area started, accompanied with severe decrease in the number of rock concert visitors and later in the unavoidably closing of many venues...

The recording came out better than we thought, compared to the live sound inside the hall during the show. But good recording equipment in the 80ies, approximately the only sweet spot in front of the soundboard and a careful transfer from analog Compact Cassette (Nakamichi Tape Deck with playback head azimuth adjustment) to digital DAT-tapes (Tascam DA 20 markII) at the end of the 90ies helped to record AND conserve this show under nearly optimal conditions...ENJOY !
