Sami Hyypia believes Liverpool can finally start moving up the Premiership table again after cutting out the defensive mistakes that cost them dearly away from home so far this season.
The Reds form at Anfield has been nothing short of sensational this term - they haven't lost at home in the league for 13 months - but it's away from home in the league that has been the problem and with a trip to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on Sunday, Hyypia believes the time is right for things to change.
"Keeping the two clean sheets in successive league games was good," claims the defender who was rested in midweek for the Carling Cup trip to Birmingham. "It means you have a chance to achieve something in the game.
"I looked at the table after the Reading match and we were still only seventh though which is not too bad considering how we started and the fact that we still do not have three points for an away win yet.
"It is only when we get our away form together will I feel better about things.
"Only then will we be able to go higher and higher in the table. We are playing well at home but it has not happened away yet. If we knew how to alter that we would have changed it already, but we should approach the game the way we do at home.
"Maybe the reason is that we have such great support at Anfield, and that could effect our lads when they travel away. The start of the season has been strange in terms of the away form but individually we have not been right away but two successive clean sheets will help everyone." |
