【東方日報專訊】威爾斯殺手比拿美速度與射術兼備，紅軍主帥賓尼迪斯「尋槍」計劃矛頭早指向他。天份高、埋門把握力強，而且具速度，賓尼迪斯認為比拿美具備成一流前鋒的條件，隊長謝拉特表示：「我們與比拿美交手過，他實在很難應付，現在他成為球隊一員，實在太好！」賓帥希望比拿美能在今季射入十五球以上，對其寄望甚殷。

Salif Diao will now return to Liverpool after failing a medical at Charlton Athletic.
Diao, who has been told to find another club after not being allocated a squad number for the new season has failed in his attempt to join Charlton and will now return to Liverpool.
New Charlton manager Ian Dowie was keen to sign Diao and was reportedly prepared to spend up to £700 000 to snap up the Senegalese 29 year old.
Unless Diao can get himself fit enough to join another club, it now looks like he'll be spending another season at Liverpool.
Diao may not get much of a chance at Anfield next year with Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko and Zenden all seeming to be in front of the tough-tackling midfielder in the pecking order.

New boy Jermaine Pennant was named Liverpoolfc.tv's man of the match after an excellent second half debut in the pre-season friendly against Kaiserslautern.  
Liverpool might have finished on the wrong end of a five goal thriller but Pennant looked the part on the right wing and created a goal for Luis Garcia.
  
Goalkeeper Pepe Reina was the fans choice for their man of the match after the FA Cup hero played a cameo central midfield role coming close to scoring twice.
  
After each game we will pick a Liverpoolfc.tv top three players from the match and get you, the fans, to vote for your top three as well. We will keep this running throughout the season and then at the end of the campaign see which player comes out on top as the overall star performer.

1. Jermaine Pennant. An eye-catching debut from Liverpool's newest recruit. Coming on as a second half substitute the right winger provided Liverpool with good width and he showed his ability and electric pace. He caused the Kaiserslautern defence problems and he also set up a goal for Luis Garcia after some marvellous inventiveness.
  
2. Gabriel Paletta. The big Argentine is going to be a fans favourite at Anfield that's for sure. Strong in the tackle and great at reading situations, Paletta has kept up a high level of performance in Liverpool's three opening pre-season games.
  
3. Luis Garcia. Turned the game when he came on as a substitute and linked up well with Craig Bellamy. It was unfortunate the Spanish international had to leave the field with a neck injury but he certainly made his mark while he was on the pitch. One fantastic run saw him set up Craig Bellamy for the equaliser then Garcia scored himself after some fine unselfish work from Jermaine Pennant.

Liverpool have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing.

The Times newspaper claims that the two clubs will go head to head in an attempt to sign Downing after both losing out to Newcastle for Damien Duff.

Spurs could have the edge though as Liverpool still need to shift Harry Kewell off their books as his £70,000 a week wages are impacting the club's ability to fund new signings.
