Thierry Henry is confident Arsenal can emulate the achievements of Liverpool last season by going all the way in the Champions League.  
Just like the Reds last year, the Gunners are currently struggling domestically but cruising in Europe and having impressively eliminated Real Madrid in the last sixteen, Arsene Wenger's side now face a quarter-final tie with Juventus.
  
Henry is eyeing a place in the Paris final on May 17 and believes he and his team-mates can take inspiration from Liverpool's remarkable success in Istanbul.
  
"Liverpool, Porto and Monaco have shown that when you play with character and desire you can do some stuff against any team in the world," says the flamboyant French striker, who's expected to be fit to face the Reds in the Premiership at Highbury on Sunday.
  
"When Liverpool reached the final against Milan I had friends who left the house at half-time to get something to eat, came back from the restaurant and saw Steven Gerrard lifting the Cup. When you have commitment and togetherness you can achieve anything. That's what they showed last year. It was a great example, but we're not there yet.
  
"I think it would have been great if all the English teams had gone through. Then you get more points with UEFA and it allows more teams to qualify. I wasn't thinking about being the last one. "Only time will tell whether we can do it, we're far from that stage yet.
  
"But everyone knows Arsenal have never won the Champions League. It's something we have had in mind all the time, ever since I joined Arsenal, but we always hit the wall."

Jan Kromkamp remains confident Liverpool can still finish second in the Premiership, but has warned his team-mates that they can't afford to drop too many points between now and the end of the season.
Kromkamp returns to the squad for the trip to Highbury having been ineligible for the Champions League match against Benfica, and the Reds number two believes Liverpool have got to go looking for all three points against Arsenal.
  
"I think it's very important to keep the pressure on Manchester United so they don't think that we have thrown the towel in," explained Kromkamp.
  
"We have to keep up the pressure on them. I am convinced they will make some mistakes because they have some difficult matches to play also. It's important we win at Arsenal and then keep on winning.
  
"There are a lot of points to play for and I think we can finish second in the Premiership. But we can't afford to drop points like we did against Charlton.
  
"Arsenal still have a lot of quality in their team. Yes, they have had a lot of injuries but they are still a good team with a good coach. It won't be easy to play against them and, of course, they beat Liverpool 3-1 at Highbury last season.
  
"It will be a difficult match but I'm quite convinced we will beat them at Highbury this time. We played very well against them at Anfield and Luis Garcia scored a good goal. Hopefully he can do it again on Sunday."

Liverpool Academy director Steve Heighway praised his young team after their 2-1 win over Southampton in the FA Youth Cup semi-final, and feels it is a good platform to take into the second leg.  
Heighway knows Southampton are a good team but added that his players give their all for the team cause on the night and deserved their 2-1 victory.
  
"I thought it was a cracking game of football and we had the better of the first half and Southampton the better of the second," reasoned Heighway.
  
"It was just a pity that we couldn't have kept it to 2-0 but they are a good side and it was no surprise they made it hard for us in the second half.
  
"We started the game really well and the boys have been tremendous in training so I knew they would be on song. Maybe we took too much out of ourselves in the first half because we are a young team.
  
"We played some fantastic football and scored two great goals. We couldn't get the third goal and in the second half we were on the back foot although I thought we finished the game well.
  
"Fortunately the away goal doesn't count in this competition so we will go to Southampton next Friday with confidence and we will give it a good go because we've still got our noses ahead."

In an exclusive interview with Liverpoolfc.tv Rafael Benitez reflects on the events of the past week and looks ahead to Sunday's Premiership clash with Arsenal.
Liverpoolfc.tv: Rafa you've had some time to reflect on the performance and the result against Benfica, what are you feelings today?
  
Rafael Benitez: "I have watched the video and in the first half in terms of the work of the players I was really happy. They worked really hard and in terms of the performance you know you need to score from the chances that you have. We were talking before the game about the importance of not to concede and score before them, but we conceded and couldn't score."
  
The look on the players faces told its own story, what was the mood in the dressing room like?
  
"We were really disappointed, all of us. I said to them you must see forward and you must keep going as the responsibility we now have is to think about the future."
  
The one set of winners on the night were the fans. How did you feel when they chanted 'You'll Never Walk Alone,' your name and also applauded the Benfica players off the pitch?
  
"For me it was the most positive news to hear the supporters. It was amazing to see the supporters of a team that is out of the Champions League singing like this and it was fantastic."
  
A lot of talk before the match was about goals and you spoke of confidence in your players that they would be able to score the two, or three if possible goals. In the end there wasn't even one, do you feel as though your players let you down?
  
"I say before all of us are disappointed but for me we created chances for scoring goals. We conceded a goal but then created more chances. We created a lot of chances in the first half then more at the end of the second half, but youknow we needed to score three goals. If you don't score first then it's always more difficult for the players."
  
There was three very clear chances towards the beginning of the match. When do you think missed chances stop becoming bad luck and more poor finishing?
  
I hope to see the team scoring goals soon and maybe this weekend against Arsenal. I say before I have confidence and now I say the same. I have confidence in the team, we are creating chances and I think we will score goals.
  
You've got to move on now but in hindsight is there anything you would change about your team selection, your substitions or the tactics you employed. Is there anything you would change again?
  
"Before the game we had some problems with Sami Hyypia and John Arne Riise. We used the players that we had available and they worked hard, and for the most part played well. We needed to change to play with three defenders at the end and that is the reason why we conceded the second goal. That wasn't important for me because we couldn't score the first goal which would have changed everything. I am happy with the team selection but not with the final score."
  
Immediately after the game you spoke about needing to lift the players for the trip to Arsenal. How important is that game now for Liverpool?
  
"It's really important for us because we have two competitions. To finish in the top four in the Premiership is really important and to be finish second would be better. We know Arsenal are 11 points behind us and it is really important we try to win because maybe we can secure the fourth position."
  
How difficult will it be to lift the players?
  
"If they know how important the game is then it will be easier. It's a bad moment after a defeat but we will have time and I think we will be ready for the next game."
  
Finally, Jose Mourinho said after Chelsea went out he wanted Benfica to win the Champions League, do you have a preference?
  
"No. If Liverpool are not involved then I would like to see the team that plays better win the Champions League."

【明報專訊】利物浦剛在歐聯16強被淘汰出局，反觀阿仙奴卻力克皇家馬德里晉級，論氣勢兩軍確有天淵之別。不過「紅軍」領隊賓尼迪斯手上仍有一張王牌，就是「兵工廠剋星」科拿。


科拿於2001年離開利物浦後，先後加盟列斯聯及曼城，快將31歲的他也想不到在足球生涯尾段重返晏菲路。不過科拿「回歸」後，至今仍未有進帳。其實上周被查爾頓悶和0﹕0一仗，他完場前本已「開齋」，卻因隊友施斯越位在先入球被判「詐糊」。
