Premiership pair Charlton and Bolton are leading the chase to sign Liverpool defender Djimi Traore.
The 26-year-old Mali international is ready to quit Anfield after manager Rafael Benitez admitted his first-team opportunites will be limited.

Traore has three years left on a lucrative deal at Liverpool, so any move may be on a season-long loan.

Fulham had been linked with Traore, but they have turned their attention to Middlesbrough's Franck Quedrue.

Traore was a member of Liverpool's Champions League winning side against AC Milan in Istanbul in May 2005.

He has made 160 appearances for Liverpool since being signed by Gerard Houllier from Laval for £550,000 in February 1999.

賓尼迪斯所整合的這隊紅軍，除了正選後備俱有質素外，更難能可貴的，就是球隊的平均年齡。

現在紅軍陣中有不同年齡、不同經驗和不同特質的球員。只要協調得當，那球隊就可以以老帶新，打出生氣勃勃的足球。

一般來說，球員的高峰期介乎二十七／八歲至三十一／二歲。這期間內，球員的體力、腳力和心肺功能都處於最巔峰，而且其心智和經驗都變得成熟。

由於現在的球賽變得比從前的更頻密和更講求速度和，尤其是英超聯，因此球員們的高鋒期都比從前稍稍下調了，大約介乎在二十六歲和三十歲之間。有球員早早成熟，也有的大器晚成，然而球員間的黃金期都不會有太大的差別。

今天，很多人都認為球員到二十八歲的時候便會走下坡。的而且確，由於傷患或球員對球賽的熱誠減退，有些球員很早就從高峰滑落；而一些年輕而俱速度的前鋒，當他們去到職業生涯的後期往往會給人無以為繼的感覺。然而，爛船還有三斤釘，好球員始終還是好球員，他們獨到的位置感是不會隨年月消失的。他們的表現可能已沒有當初那麼耀眼，但他們還是可以聰明地在場上保存體力，只需機會適當就可一擧打敗對手。至於龍門方面，他們一般都比其他位置的球員遲熟。

以上種種提醒我本年度紅軍的平均年齡和組合。老、中、青的球員比例恰當，球隊沒有淤塞著大量年老力衰的球員，同時也沒有被太多羽翼未豐的小伙子所佔據，球隊不會因過份年輕而影響其穩定性。

球隊的年齡組合恰當但如果球員質素平庸也是無濟於事。相反，有質素的選手再加上恰到好處的老嫩比例便可以使球隊經驗與朝氣俱備。關鍵是球隊可否在最適當的時候找到最適當的球員。

我相信一隊平均年齡低於二十六歲的球隊可以奪得重要錦標的機會是微乎其微，同樣地也鮮有聽聞一隊平均年齡高於三十一歲的球隊可以赢得冠軍。要成為一隊勁旅，要求的不單單是球員的球技和紀律，還要講求一個平衡的年齡組合。你需要體力和鬥志俱備的年輕快馬，也需要能控制球賽和頭腦冷靜的識途老馬。

回想一九九六年的那隊曼聯，當時阿倫．漢臣(Alan Hansen)曾不屑地說過「一班黃毛小子能赢得冠軍的嗎？」，但事實是那班黃毛小子一直都是跟著簡東拿、巴里斯達、堅尼和舒米高等名將南征北討。那隊曼聯不是一隊純粹由小伙子所組成的球隊，而是一隊有老有嫩、以老帶新的球隊。兩者的分別是南轅北徹的。

候利亞執教利物浦的初期，利物浦的平均年齡是低於二十四歲。這點是可以理解的，因為他處於球隊重建計劃的開始階段，而理論上球隊可以收成於幾年之後。

直至候利亞執教利物浦的中期，球隊勇奪三冠並以第二名完成聯賽，這可是一個不得了的成就，而這很大程度歸功於一眾有經驗的球員抱括班比、薛基、巴布、列馬倫、還有至為重要的麥亞里士打。至於科拿，他當時正值二十六歲，在奪標之路上有著無可比礙的貢獻。

那時球隊不論經驗和朝氣俱備，而我們對球隊的前景都十分樂觀。然而，到了二零零二年的夏天，以上所提到的球員沒有一人還留在球隊。這是由於那時簽入了一批新人如戴奧、芝禾爾和迪奧夫。當時簽入他們可能是考慮到他們年輕力壯，然而現在回望這些都算是失敗的收購。有經驗的大將被沒經驗的小將所取代了。

直至候利亞執教的晚期，球隊的平均年齡回復到他執教初期時的水平，無獨有偶，其表現也倒退到他初初接手時的程度，球隊甚至在歐聯被擯了出局。這些是巧合嗎？還是球隊的年齡已經預表了他的極限？

在零三至零四年度的球季，候利亞旗下的經常性正選球員的平均年齡是二十五歲，這已經是偏年輕的了。

再看其餘的球員，包括拿泰歷、懷斯、查奧爾、邦高尼、巴路士和卻克蘭，全隊紅軍的實際的平均年齡是低於二十四歲。而最終事實也證明，要奪取冠軍，這隊紅軍未免是太幼嫩了。

當球隊上了軌道後，領隊就會為著球隊的未來而發掘有潛質的新人，然而大前提是不能因此而損害現在球隊的表現。

賓尼迪斯為了球隊的將來而找來一大批新秀，然而我們不可以期望今天種樹明天就可以乘涼。新秀們如果可以在短期內便突飛猛進的話，那不過是幸運。紅軍職球員都不可以依賴保羅安達臣(Paul Anderson)作為本季球隊的支柱，他即使為球隊帶來任何建樹都不過是額外奬金而已。

賓尼迪斯旗下的這支紅軍，其年齡分佈相當廣闊，由十多歲到三十多歲的也有。

連拿、麥克干沙里斯、沙比艾朗素、斯素高等，他們都是年齡介乎二十至二十二歲之的時候加盟的，而他們都很快便能夠獨當一面地為一隊上陣。以龍門來說，連拿是例外的早熟，而且經驗豐富。至於艾朗素，以一名如此年青的球員來說，他的表現實在叫人喜出望外。

路爾斯加西亞、奧拿里奧、高治、比拿美和高朗甘加盟時都是二十五歲前後的球員，他們都是己進入了黃金期的球員。

至於較年長的，包括辛頓、科拿和摩連迪斯都是在他們的高峰期時簽入的。而過了三十歲才被賓尼迪斯簽入的就只有比歷堅奴一個。

我在眾球員中選出二十名我認為將會是主力的球員，他們的平均年齡是二十六歲。至於紅軍最強十一人的平均年齡則較難判斷，因為很難預知賓尼迪斯會派哪十一人出場。跟其他領隊不同，賓尼迪斯不愛固定正選陣容，相反他會因應每場比賽的需要而作出相應的更改。另外，隨著新成員的加入，他的出場組合和變化都還有可能再改變。

然而，粗略地估計，正選十一人應抱括連拿、芬倫、希比亞、加歷查、懷斯、基維爾、謝拉特、斯素高、艾朗素、高治和比拿美。其平均年齡為二十六歲。至於另外九名球員，其平均年齡也是二十六歲。

而如在那九名球員中再選出五名較有經驗、而且出場次數相信會較多的球員，抱括科拿、辛頓、加西亞、干沙里斯和奧尼里奧等計算在內，那麼「最強十六人」的平均年齡便會是二十七歲，這是一個最有能力奪標的年齡。

說了那麼多，現在就讓我作個總結：這隊紅軍不是一隊隨隨老去、目標是奪取其職業生涯最後一次冠軍的遲暮英雄；也不是一隊乳嗅未乾、心智和實力都不足以挑戰車路士的初生之犢。

現在的這隊紅軍，是適齡奪標的了。

利物浦收購古積特行動重現曙光，球隊有機會以超低價一千萬鎊（約一億四千萬港元）搶得該名荷蘭射手，遠低於早前飛燕諾會方要求的一千四百萬鎊（約二億港元）。利物浦能以超低價向古積特入手，據報是由於他的合約當中有附加條約，只要付出一定價錢他就能夠離隊。

古積特上季在荷甲射入二十二球表現出眾，頓成歐洲球壇「尋槍客」的獵物。利物浦欲以他取代離隊的摩連迪斯，於是向飛燕諾提出斟介。不過，飛燕諾「獅子開大口」，表示至少要有一千四百萬鎊才會放人，這個數字令領隊賓尼迪斯即時打退堂鼓。

事情出現了轉機，利物浦發現古積特的合約中有條款，可以約一千萬鎊的價錢作為他的贖身價，由於現時只有紐卡素及馬體會等次級球隊對古積特表示興趣，飛燕諾根本沒有條件推高價錢，所以英國傳媒預計利物浦可以「超低價」奪得心頭好。

今天比拿美頌讚了利物浦的訓練方法；他認為現在自己的狀態比過去任何時間更加好。

Jansen told BBC Sport that it was "no secret" that the Reds were eager to sign the 25-year-old - but warned they face stiff competition.

"There are some clubs interested in England and in Spain," Jansen confirmed

Earlier this summer Kuyt said he would be keen on a move to Newcastle, while Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal have all been heavily linked with the frontman.

Jansen said he expected Kuyt to leave Holland before the start of the new season and hinted that England was his favoured destination.

"He has a special feeling for the Premier League," Jansen said. "But there are some major clubs playing on a world level in Spain too."

Kuyt was a part of the Dutch World Cup squad which lost in the second round to Portugal.

He started the tournament on the bench but broke into the side at the expense of Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Daily Mirror is claiming Liverpool have made a new bid for Jermaine Pennant.

Pennant has been linked with a move before, but recently all the talk has been about Daniel Alves, whose club Sevilla wont let him go on the cheap, so Pennant seems a better option.

The Mirror says that Rafa has come up with a £6million offer, and that Pennant is willing to compete for a place in the squad.

This offer could be too good to turn down for the relegated Birmingham City.

Rafa Benitez might be set to land Valencia midfielder Rufete after he left the Spanish giants by mutual consent today.

Rufete, who can play in the middle or on the right side of midfield will be available on a free transfer and could be a good piece of business for Benitez who has been looking for a right-sided midfield player for over a year.

This coupled with the fact that the player enjoyed three very successful seasons under Benitez at Valencia could all point to the transfer going ahead.

Espanyol has also registered their interest in the Spanish international who will not be short of offers for his services.

比拿美正熱切地期待出席世界盃的大將回到米活操練場參與季前訓練。  

比拿美承認他非常享受在紅軍的蜜月期，和急不及待開始與出席世界盃的星將共事。  

「謝拉特是世界上其中一位最佳的中場，而艾朗素亦是一位更好的傳球手。」比拿美說。

Liverpool are thought to be planning another raid on Spain for Real Madrid youngster Esteban Granero.

Reports emanating from Spain suggests Liverpool are planning a move for the highly-rated midfielder.

Granero is currently plying his trade at Madrid B side's Castilla and he has impressed in the Segunda Liga.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has been alerted to the attacking midfielder by his Spanish scouting staff and he is believed to be a big fan of Granero.

Benitez is looking to bring in a new midfielder ahead of the new season and he could make a move for the Spanish youth international.

The 18-year-old is highly-regarded within the corridors of Real Madrid and the Spanish giants are determined to keep hold of the young talent.

Dirk Kuyt's agent has questioned Liverpool's hopes of landing the striker, insisting he will not move to Anfield unless the club meet Feyenoord's valuation.


The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield as the Reds look to increase their goalscoring options ahead of the forthcoming season.


Newcastle are also reportedly interested but the player's agent Rob Jansen believes he will remain at Feyenoord as both clubs seem unlikely to pay the Eredivisie side's £13.7million price.

'Dirk will not be signing for Liverpool any time soon,' Jansen told AD Sportwereld.

'He is also not negotiating with any other English club for that matter.

'Both clubs do not want to pay what Feyenoord wants.

'If foreign clubs don't have the money to buy Kuyt then he will stay with Feyenoord, it's that simple.'

Reports originating from Spain today claim that Liverpool are winning the race to sign Barcelona youngster Fran Mérida (U16/U17 player).
